Cryogenic
Tank Rentals
Manhattan CryoBank offers portable
cryogenic tanks to clients requiring the transportation of sperm,
eggs and embryos.
Cryogenic tanks are special containers designed
for the safe transportation of biological samples such as sperm,
egg/embryos, at cryogenic (-150°C or colder) temperatures. Fabricated
from durable, lightweight aluminum, they employ a hydro-phobic absorbent
that contains the liquid nitrogen for “spill-free” shipping.
The absorbent repels moisture and humidity, assuring the maximum
holding time.
Depending on the size/model of the cryogenic tank,
these dry shippers (also called dry dewars) will maintain the proper
temperature up to 4-7 days from the date of shipment.
Because of the manner in which liquid nitrogen
is absorbed and no free liquid present in the container, the liquid
nitrogen does not exhibit the characteristic of a “cryogenic
liquid” as defined in 49 CFR 173.115(g) and dose not pose
a hazard during transportation. Therefore dry shippers are not subject
to regulation under the Department of Transportation’s Hazardous
Material Regulation.
A shipping carton is used to protect the container
during transportation. These containers can be used to ship your
samples with a “non-hazardous” classification throughout
the world, thus reducing costs and helping to assure sample viability.
