Manhattan CryoBank is committed to providing high quality donor sperm samples. All specimens are counted using a Makler counting chamber ensuring the highest quality of motile sperm cells. Manhattan CryoBank performs a post-thaw analysis on each specimen, the information of which is included with every shipment. A post-thaw analysis details the number of motile sperm present in the vial after it has been frozen. Manhattan CryoBank guarantees the following number of motile sperm cells in each vial:
IUI-Ready (Washed): 10 Million Motile Sperm per Vial
ICI (Unwashed): 10 Million Motile Sperm per Vial
Please Note: IUI-Ready vials contain 0.5 ml of donor sperm, while ICI vials contain 1.0 ml of donor sperm.
If specimens fall below the above listed quality standards, Manhattan Cryobank requires that the physician and/or clinical laboratory preparing the specimen complete a Specimen Report Form. Specimen Report Forms claiming substandard specimens must be submitted to Manhattan Cryobank within 30 days of the physician and/or clinical laboratory thawing the specimen. The form may be faxed to (212) 396-2797 / (646) 219-6569 or scanned and emailed to email@example.com. Upon receipt of a Specimen Report Form, Manhattan Cryobank’s laboratory management team will review the details provided in the form.
Please note the following prior to submitting a Substandard Specimen Report:
Manhattan Cryobank uses a Makler chamber as its counting methodology.
Sperm counts will vary 10-30% depending on the laboratory personnel and counting method. Laboratory variation is expected and Manhattan Cryobank uses an inter-laboratory variance of 15%. As such, given that Manhattan Cryobank guarantees 10 million motile sperm per vial, a count of 8.5 million motile sperm per vial (15% of 10 million) is acceptable. A variation in count does not indicate the specimen is not suitable for insemination or that a pregnancy will not result if used for an insemination.
Clinics and physician offices must follow Manhattan Cryobank's printed thaw procedures enclosed in each shipment. Thaw procedures may vary among specimen types.
Our specimen quality standard applies at the time of thaw and prior to any post thaw processing. Sperm will be lost in the process of washing a specimen. A pre-processing count must be taken to determine if the specimen meets our standards. If your facility is not able to provide a pre-processing count and the specimen was washed and/or processed before use, you can expect the total motile cell (TMC) count to be less than the stated standard.
If a specimen's TMC tests below our quality standard prior to any additional processing, the clinic/physician must report specific specimen data and submit a Specimen Report Form within 30 days of thawing.
If a pregnancy is achieved, the client is not eligible for any refund or credit, regardless of the TMC of the specimen prior to or after any processing.
Manhattan Cryobank's liability for any deficiency in specimen quality will be limited to supplying a replacement specimen or full/partial refund for the cost of the specimen only, excluding shipping fees, at Manhattan Cryobank's discretion. Manhattan Cryobank will in no event be liable for any consequential or incidental damages, including but not limited to any additional or associated expenses incurred by the patient during infertility treatment.
Specimen guarantee is void if ownership of specimens is transferred to a different owner prior to use.
